We are absolutely delighted to welcome Dr. Madhav Deo Saraswat to the Good Shepherd International School as our new Principal and Director. With a remarkable career spanning three decades, he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in teaching, academic administration, team building, and community development programs. He has served in various notable positions, including CEO of the Sapkal Knowledge Hub and Founder-Principal of the Orchid International School, Nashik (Maharashtra); 16 years as a teacher and housemaster at The Doon School, Dehradun (1989-2005); as the Principal at Scindia School, Gwalior (2015-2022), and most recently, as the Principal of Hyderabad Public School. We are excited to have him join our GSIS family, and we are confident that Dr. Saraswat’s experience, insights, enthusiasm and focus on education will help us achieve new heights of excellence and growth.
Back2Roots 2023 was a grand success, with more than 200 of our Old Shepherdians attending the event. The three-day event, held from April 28-30 at the school’s Palada Campus, was dedicated to the batches of 1995, 96, 97 and 98. For our dear alumni, it was a splendid opportunity to bond with their childhood friends, share stories of fun and laughter, and revisit the best years of their lives. With great fervour and excitement, our Shepherdians shared with our students their personal experiences at GSIS, how the school played a significant role in their formative years, the friendships they made, the skills they imbibed, and the tremendous contributions and positive impact it has made throughout their lives.
On 8th May, we celebrated the PYP Graduation ceremony – a significant milestone in the life of our Grade 5 students, as they formally transition to Grade 6 (MYP program). The event sets the stage for the next phase of their journey along the IB continuum, recognizing and celebrating the achievements of our PYP 5 learners and giving them the opportunity to share their memorable classroom experiences. Mr. Jacob Thomas, President, GSIS; Mrs. Sara Jacob, Senior Vice-President, Student & Staff Welfare, and Mrs. Sheila Alexander, Principal, GSIS, distributed the special awards and certificates to the students who demonstrated excellence in IB Learner profile attributes.
The Annual Inter-House Cross-Country Championship 2023 for Abhilash Patnaik Memorial Trophy was held on Saturday, April 29, 2023. The competition was held in Super Senior, Senior, Inter, Junior and Sub-Junior categories for Boys and Girls. The championship involved running on different types of terrain within the Palada campus of GSIS. We are delighted that our kids delivered a spectacular, power-packed performance at the Championship. Congratulations to all the winners!
We are glad that our students of grades 3-5 and 6-8 showcased an excellent performance at the Changemaker Challenge 2023-24 organized by the STEAM Department, GSIS. The Changemaker Challenge shone the spotlight on our young innovators and changemakers at GSIS, who displayed creativity, leadership, and critical thinking skills required to identify real-world problems and proposed solutions for it, thereby creating a positive transformation in their communities. The competition involved 3 students in each team. The teams had to select one issue from the nine topics given, relating to the various problems caused by rapid urbanization, such as, dysfunctional infrastructure, long commute times, ineffective healthcare, smog-filled cities, dirty slums, unsafe neighbourhood, and rising living costs and were tasked with finding innovative solutions for the selected problems through the Design Thinking (DT) cycle. The submitted work was graded by program managers from the Creya Team and GSIS.
