Founder’s Day : Celebrating Wisdom and Legacy

In the hallowed halls of Good Shepherd International School, a tradition of immense reverence and wisdom unfolds every year. Founder’s Day, a day that transcends the ordinary constraints of a date on the calendar, brings together students, parents, and staff to celebrate the ideals and vision of our Founder-Principal, Dr. P. C. Thomas, a luminary whose unwavering commitment to education has left an indelible mark on our institution and continues to inspire us all. This annual event serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of a man whose dreams and dedication laid the foundation for excellence in education at our beloved school.

A Day of Melodic Elegance

On the 14th day of October, our school came alive with a series of captivating events that bore the wisdom of ages. The day commenced with a warm reception, a gesture of hospitality to our honored parents and esteemed guests. It was a prelude to the heartwarming school prayer, a solemn moment that evoked unity and purpose within the gathering. The vibrant school song that followed resonated with the entire audience, an ode to the enduring values and traditions that have guided our institution through the years.

The grand opening performance, delivered with the precision that only time-honored traditions can bestow, came from our choir and orchestra. Their melodious notes set the tone for a day filled with extraordinary talent and unwavering dedication, reminding us of the wealth of knowledge and skills that our institution imparts.

One of the highlights, as we traverse through the annals of time, was the Rock Band’s rendition of “Smoke On The Water.” The energy and passion with which they performed were met with thunderous applause, reminiscent of the classical performances of old.

The evening continued with captivating acts, including the Middle School Choir, dance presentations, musical ensembles, and a mesmerizing musical theater performance of “Wicked.” Each act showcased the diverse talents of our students and left the audience spellbound, much like the ancient tales of bards and minstrels.

The October 15th event was impressive, reflecting the ancient traditions of honor and discipline. It featured the arrival of our distinguished Chief Guest, an event marked with a General Salute, Guard of Honor, March Past, Band Display, and Drummers’ Call, reminiscent of military precision and valor.

The day continued with various demonstrations, showcasing the diverse skills of our students. From mountaineering to yoga, taichi, and equestrian displays, our students exhibited their talents and dedication to various disciplines. It was a moment of pride, a testament to the knowledge and traditions we pass on.

One of the eminent highlights, a reflection of age-old wisdom, was the presence of our chief guest, Mr. Sangeeth Varghese, a global strategy expert. Mr. Varghese delivered an inspiring address that left a lasting impact on the audience. His words, steeped in wisdom, motivated our students to aim high and reach for their dreams, to understand the use of subject knowledge, and, above that, to focus on life skills such as critical thinking, creativity, empathy, and humanism, echoing the profound wisdom of ages past.

Special awards and prizes, akin to the laurels bestowed upon heroes of yore, were distributed to acknowledge the hard work and achievements of our students. The event was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem, a reminder of our school’s pride and commitment to the nation, echoing the sentiments of a generation that cherished their homeland.
