Dr. Madhav Deo Saraswat will be joining as the new Principal and Director from the academic year 2023-2024
GSIS Ooty – ranked No.1 Indian international residential school in 2022, has announced that Dr. Madhav Deo Saraswat is joining the 47-year-old reputed institution as the new Principal and Director starting AY 2023-24. This is a significant moment in the history of GSIS, as Dr. Saraswat will succeed Mrs. Sheila Alexander, who will retire as Principal of GSIS at the end of the current academic year (2022-23), after a remarkable tenure of 37 years.
Dr. Saraswat brings with him three decades of experience in Teaching, Academic administration, Team building, and Community development programs. He has served in various notable positions, including CEO of the Sapkal Knowledge Hub and Founder-Principal of the Orchid International School, Nashik (Maharashtra); 16 years as a teacher and housemaster at The Doon School, Dehradun (1989-2005); as the Principal at Scindia School, Gwalior, and most recently, as the Principal of Hyderabad Public School.
As a teacher and housemaster at The Doon School, he was profoundly engaged in several curricular and extracurricular activities and has led many service projects to raise funds, built state-of-the-art infrastructure, and instilled ideas of a more inclusive and humane culture in students and adults alike. A man of inimitable grit and steadfast determination, Mr. Saraswat is an exponent of the ideology of ‘Leadership through Service’ and believes in establishing and promoting a culture of excellence and meritocracy in every sphere of school activity. He is an English and Hindi alumnus of the Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Agra, and has a Postgraduate Degree in English, Hindi, and Sanskrit. He has also earned a Doctorate in Hindi Literature.
